Rio: My children ‘shut me down’ after my wife’s death

Former England captain Rio Ferdinand has told BBC 5 live that his children wouldn’t talk about the death of their mother, after she died of cancer in 2015.

Speaking to BBC 5 live’s Emma Barnett, he said his children would “shut me down” when he asked them how they were feeling.

His wife, Rebecca, was 34 when she died. The couple’s three children are now aged 10, 8 and 5.
