Hi I am Mel, I was engaged to Andy for 6 years (together for 10 and a half years) He was the most perfect man I could ever have hoped to meet, a true gent with a heart of gold!
we were due to get married in Mauritius on July 27th 2010, it was all booked and I had bought my dress only the week before he died very suddenly! He was 38 (a week away from his 39th birthday!) and he came home at 11:10pm from his job as a fitness instructor, he looked flushed,he had just cycled 7 miles back from work as he always did, spoke to me for a few minutes and then collapsed!
at the hospital he was pronounced dead and my world fell apart! especially when they told me that my gorgeous, fit and healthy fiance had suffered a massive heart attack!!! I still find this hard to deal with as he was very concious about his health, had not been to the doctors more than once in the last 10 years and was also a part time tennis coach!
I am struggling with this new life of being a single mum to our 6 year old son, too many milestones to get over!!
it is so painful everyday!!!!
we miss him so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for listening
Mel x

hi
i,m new here also my life long friend and husband for 30 years did a similar thing just drinking a cup of tea before bed he made a funny noise ..i thought he was joking and he leaned forward towards the floor said my name and was gone aged 50...just 12 months ago..i feel so alone even in a crowded room..i have 2 sons age 27 & 17..we support each other but its still very hard..but in all fairness i do now have more good days than bad its just th bad days are very deep..we met when we were both 13 and have grown up together..i fear for the next 30 years alone..i'm sure that i can at time feel my heart hurting..my best word of advice is think on the positives in life ..not always easy but i'm sure our loved ones would not want us to be sad..its good to talk at last with people who are in the same situation..x

Mel, I also lost my husband suddenly back in January and share your feeling of being totally, desperately heartbroken. We had also been together for ten years, just married on our honeymoon. I survived the accident. But he didn't and I have also lost my soulmate. I don't think there is anything either of us can do to fill that enormous gap. Friends and family can provide company and distraction, and so can your son who is very precious but none can really do anything to replace what we have lost. People tell me time is a healer and it is about getting through each day. At the moment I don't know what to believe or do except try and pass the time and find distractions - don't know what to say really except I know exactly how the pain feels and what it is like to miss somebody so desperately. Thinking of you x
