Online training course for professionals, frontline staff, managers and leaders in workplaces where death, loss or serious illness affects staff or service users.
Preparation
You will need writing materials; we recommend A fixed page Journal (this will also be useful for reflective work once you have completed the course).
Space
Find a workspace where you a not likely to be disturbed. Make your space comfortable, take suggested comfort breaks for refreshment and thought process.
Make notes of mood changes. If triggered take time out, there is no rush to complete the course – you have three days. Share any feelings provoked in your journal and with a trusted person, i.e. work colleague that has also attended or is attending the course.
Modules
The training course is divided up into 5 modules. Feel free to take a break between modules, as the course should typically last about 3 hours.
At the end of each module there is a button to confirm that you have completed that module, which takes you to the next module.
You will no longer have access to the previous module in each case. So only click that button if you are certain you have completed that module and do not wish to re-read any parts of it.
As part of the training course, you will be able to download our accompanying book "Living With Bereavement" by Alex James to help you on your journey through the course.
The book contains personal accounts of bereavement.
We recommend Chapter One "Messengers and Helpers" as a useful tool for this course.
You will also find “The Ongoing Ripples Of Grief” © Alex James an additional tool that can be used to help you in your ongoing journey following completion of the training course and contains a diagram of how individuals might experience bereavement, loss and grief.
