Sands
About Sands
Sands is the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. We operate throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
Erica Stewart, Bereavement Support and Awareness Specialist at Sands, said: “After a baby has died, most hospitals provide good sensitive bereavement care to bereaved parents.
“This includes being offered many choices about what happens to their baby, including taking hand and footprints, photographs and taking their baby home or out of the hospital.
“There is no legal reason why parents cannot take their baby home to say goodbye before the funeral and for many parents this is the most natural thing to do.”
Stillbirth and neonatal death charity Sands are on hand to help families in the UK who are going through the bereavement process.
