TEAM EVIE Our Story
In 2015 we lost our daughter Evie and set up Team Evie to make sure that Evie had a lasting positive impact. Our aim was to help poorly children in hospital and the community, the families of the poorly children and bereaved parents – as we understand all those situations after our time with Evie in hospital etc.
It has gone so well and we are now over £70k raised in under 18 months. We have managed to help so many people. With the money raised we:
Buy lots of equipment to make a stay in hospital easier for children and their families – TVs DVDs CD players, sensory toys etc etc. We also provided mobile libraries for wards (5 so far in various hospitals) based on the benefits of reading to a poorly child, even if they are unconscious.
We have recently added the bereavement support aspect of our charity. In West Cumbria there is nothing for bereaved parents. So we have started a monthly group where parents can meet others who understand their loss and grief and we arrange discussions and activities to help. The group has so much potential to be expanded and it is becoming more and more clear that so many people need some support. So, in time we hope to provide more groups for more people.
